September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

Recognize September as National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in Your Town or State with an official Proclamation

September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, an ideal time to draw attention to the issue by having a proclamation issued for your state or town.

The process by which proclamations are issued does not require a great deal of effort, but it can be lengthy (often 45 days for a state proclamation).  As a result, we recommend that you make your requests now. Also, proclamations must be reissued from year to year so if your state or community received a proclamation last year, it will have “expired” this year and needs to be reissued.

This “CureSearch Guide to Childhood Cancer Proclamations” includes:

• A sample letter you can personalize to request a proclamation
• Draft language for a childhood cancer awareness proclamation
• A CureSearch Fact Sheet on Childhood Cancer

Proclamations can raise awareness at the state and local levels as well as with members of Congress who are interested in knowing about activities in their home states.

CureSearch is interested in learning about all proclamations and will feature information on this website. Please notify Kate Shafer (Kate.Shafer@CureSearch.org) if you plan to request a proclamation or if you have questions or need additional information.
