Clinical Trials
What is a clinical trial? A clinical trial is a medical research study that searches for a better way to treat a particular disease. Every clinical trial starts by carefully evaluating that what is done in the current best ("standard") treatment for a given disease. Then, the doctors and researchers consider what can be done differently that could save more lives or might help patients keep a better quality of life during and after treatment. Clinical trials are usually the fastest and most efficient way to improve the care of children with cancer.
Many people and organizations are involved in developing a clinical trial. The Children’s Oncology Group (COG) is the largest pediatric clinical trials group, with more than 240 participating hospitals.
