World's Largest Childhood Cancer Research Group Names New Head for Its Foundation

Stacy Haller Brings Wealth of Expertise in Organizational Development and Charitable Fundraising to Help Support Childhood Cancer Research

BETHESDA, Md., Dec, 15, 2006 — CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation announced today that its board of trustees has named Stacy Pagos Haller as the Executive Director of the organization, effective January 15, 2007.

Ms. Haller will lead CureSearch in raising awareness and funds to support the important work of the Children’s Oncology Group, the world’s largest and most prestigious childhood cancer research organization. With increased funding from private and governmental sources, the Children’s Oncology Group will be better positioned for pioneering new treatment and cures for children, adolescents and young adults fighting cancer.

“We cannot depend on federal funding alone for translational research in pediatric cancer.   We need significant charitable gifts raised from the private sector to help fund the cure for children facing a diagnosis,” said Gregory Reaman, MD, Chair of Children’s Oncology Group. “Stacy is a natural and motivational leader who can bring cutting-edge advancement techniques and best practices to CureSearch.”

“This is an extraordinary opportunity.  I am truly honored to support the Children’s Oncology Group’s mission of scientific discovery and compassionate care for children with cancer,” said Ms. Haller. “I look forward to the unique challenges ahead in raising funds for childhood cancer research and working together with the community of donors, foundations, parents, physicians and other leaders toward a cure for all children diagnosed with cancer.”

“The board selected Stacy based on her extensive background and impressive record at moving non-profit organizations and development programs to the next level of success,”, said Clarence Schmitz, Chair of CureSearch Board of Trustees. “She is a true development professional who brings an impressive mix of hands-on and strategic qualifications to our organization.”

Haller has more than 25 years of experience working with colleges, universities, hospitals and non-profit organizations. For the past 10 years, she has provided strategic planning, development and communications consulting to a variety of clients including the American Red Cross, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Georgetown University and the National AIDS Fund. Her leadership and participation in every facet of organizational development and fundraising campaigns has helped institutions raise more than $400 million.
