Sam Keziah Memorial Shootout - Monroe, NC
On May 31st over 300 people gathered in Monroe, North Carolina, a community just outside Charlotte, in memory of Sam Keziah, who lost a courageous battle with Wilm’s Tumor. The Keziah family and entire Monroe community have been tremendous supporters of childhood cancer research.
This skeet shoot began as an idea of Keziah family friend, Curtis Meggs, primarily as a way to let them know how much the community cared for them. Friends, families, and skeet enthusiasts gathered for a fun-filled day that included helicopter rides, a cook-out, homemade ice cream and of course shooting clay pigeons.
The 2nd Annual Sam Keziah Memorial Shootout raised more than $41,000, nearly tripling last year’s goal. This event is a true reflection of the power of community, binding the town of Monroe together in solidarity with the Keziah family and for all who are touched by childhood cancer.
