CureSearch Walk Goes International!
Walkers raise $2,000 for children's cancer research

International WalkThe San Antonio CureSearch Walk is special to Claudia. She has participated for the past two years in memory of her childhood friend's daughter, who passed away 2 years ago. Despite being deployed with the military to Kuwait, Claudia wanted to stay involved with the team. So, she signed up as a virtual walker. A co-worker donated to her team, and suggested that she form a team of soldiers and host a walk while deployed.

Claudia was amazed by the support that she received from her fellow soldiers as well as those at home. She set a goal of raising $500, but with every new team member, she became more and more confident that they could raise much more. Her team, made up of soldiers in the Battalion-HSC 449th ASB, raised more than $2,000 by the time of the Walk. "The experience was profound for me," explains Claudia. "The fact that these soldiers generously donated and that they were excited to participate in such an important cause was very touching."

International WalkThe day of the Walk came, and Claudia was excited to celebrate and honor the 36 children who are diagnosed every day. "The day of the Walk was memorable. Before we started the Walk a few words were expressed in memory of all the children who have lost their battle with cancer," says Claudia. "It was great knowing that everyone's thoughts were with all children who are fighting or have fought cancer."

Claudia and her team are excited to raise awareness and funds for children's cancer research even from the Middle East. To learn how you can get involved with CureSearch, visit
