Beautiful weather on Saturday August 27th welcomed 14 hikers who participated in the CureSearch for Children’s Cancer Ultimate Hike along the Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota.
This Ultimate Hike was comprised of hikers who trained for several months in Minneapolis, Duluth, and Madison and them came together to take on the 32 mile trail. To date, the event has raised more than $30,000 dollars for children’s cancer research.
The 14 participants shared a common goal: to raise funds for children’s cancer research. Justine from Minneapolis hiked in honor of her son Axel, alongside a family friend who hiked in memory of the daughter she lost to cancer nearly 30 years ago. Other hikers included sisters, couples, and a pair of newlyweds.
Despite the chilly start to the day, participants were treated to stunning views of Lake Superior, wildlife, and plenty of greenery. Spanning from Country Road to Caribou Trail, the Superior Hike was a challenging 32 miles of assents and descents.
In terms of distance, the Superior Trail is to date the longest Ultimate Hike in the country. Along the way, the hikers raised an additional $80 from other hikers on the trail who were moved by their mission. After many hours of hard work, all 14 participants completed the Hike.
