July 30, 2011 was an exciting day in Columbus Ohio, as Hope Street Kids celebrated the 11th annual Family Night at the Zoo at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The heat didn’t deter over 650 patients and their families, corporate sponsors, and friends of Hope Street Kids from an evening of fun and entertainment that raised over $70,000 in the fight against children’s cancer.
The event occurred after-hours at the zoo and featured barbeque provided by Bob Evans Farms, performances by the Riverside Rats Band, and lots of fun activities for the entire family. Kids were treated to animal exhibits, bounce houses, a carousel, and many other activities throughout the evening. Patients from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, A Kid Again and Kids N Kamp were just some of the children on hand who took part in the festivities.
Local NBC reporter Ellie Merritt once again emceed the event as friends and family had a fantastic evening. Numerous corporate sponsors made a huge impact on the event - top sponsors included Limited Brands, Bob Evans Farms, Giant Eagle, Scotts
Miracle-Gro Company, and American Electric Power.
CureSearch for Children’s Cancer’s Regional Development Manager Kelly Bush had a fantastic time at the event. “It was such a pleasure to be part of this fantastic event and have the opportunity to work with the families and corporate sponsors in Columbus. Central Ohio is such a close knit community, made obvious by the way that everyone came together for such an important cause.”
