In December 2007, Melinda was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. After four rounds of chemotherapy and three weeks of radiation, her cancer went into remission. However, side effects from her treatment began to cause major digestive problems. Melinda developed an eating disorder which took an emotional and physical toll, severely threatening her life.
Through therapy and a commitment to writing, Melinda began to heal. Melinda’s book, Grace: A Child’s Intimate Journey Through Cancer and Recovery details her battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, her long, difficult road to recovery, and the humor, faith and love that brought her through it all.
As a childhood cancer survivor, Melinda gives thanks for her life by educating the public about her experience and hopes that people will be moved to give money to research.
Melinda now dances six days a week and performs with the Civic Ballet of San Luis Obispo and San Luis Jazz.
