Capitals to Visit Children’s National Medical Center, Announce Launch of Courage Caps, Monday, Oct. 15


ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will announce the launch of a brand new community initiative, Courage Caps, at their annual visit to Children’s National Media Center on Monday, Oct. 15 from 2-3:45 p.m. Chairman and majority owner Ted Leonsis will join the team for a press conference at 2 p.m. to introduce the new initiative, followed by visits with hospital patients. Courage Caps are team-issued and branded hats that will be sold throughout the season at Capitals home games and online at, with 100% of the sale price benefiting CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation, an NHL charitable partner that focuses on raising funds for the Children’s Oncology Group, the world’s largest cooperative cancer research organization. 


WHO:  Washington Capitals players, coaches and chairman and majority owner Ted Leonsis, Gregory H. Reaman, M.D., Chairman of Children’s Oncology Group and Professor of Pediatrics at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stacy P. Haller, Executive Director of CureSearch
WHAT:  Leonsis, Haller and Dr. Reaman will host a press conference at 2 p.m. to announce the launch of Courage Caps. The entire Washington Capitals team will be on hand to visit patients at the Children’s National Medical Center.
