Hikers Complete 22 Mile Challenge in 1 Day!
18 athletes raise $43,000

Lone Star HikeThree months of training led up to one exciting weekend on the Lonestar Trail in Texas, on May 18. Eighteen hikers completed the 22 mile hike in just one day with the help of two coaches, two trail ambassadors, three volunteers, and CureSearch staff, all to raise awareness and funds for children's cancer research.

The weekend started with a pasta dinner, where participants gathered to get to know each other, share why they were hiking, and what they were most excited and scared about. Hikers woke up early the next morning (as in 3am!) and headed to the Lonestar Trail to begin their journey.

The Lonestar Trail is described as a hikers' paradise and takes its trekkers through the Sam Houston National Forest, which has close to 17,000 wooded acres and spans across three counties. Hikers enjoyed the flat scenic hike, while making a difference in the lives of children affected by cancer.

After the hike participants shared stories from the day and were recognized for their efforts with CureSearch medals at the awards breakfast. Together, these participants raised more than $43,000 to help fund innovative and targeted research.
